This facility was designed for BMG Entertainment’s RCA Records, Zoo Entertainment, Private Music, BMG Music Publishing, BMG Distribution, LaFace Records, U.S. Latin, and Administrative Services.
The driving creative force of this project came from a crucial yet often-overlooked place: the doors. The company’s request for diffused natural light in the central work areas was achieved with sleek, custom-designed office doors and entryways in frosted glass and aluminum. These features so impressed BMG’s then-chairman and CEO Dr. Michael Dornemann that he compared them to fine German automotive engineering.
Also paramount to this project were acoustical and lighting solutions, which included individually controlled task and ambient lighting, lowered ceilings over open workstations to reflect the ambient light systems, and tectum acoustical tiles to further reduce sound transmission.
