Created in 1992, the Sony BMG Music Entertainment campus exemplifies PAI’s ability to create cost-effective, innovative design.
Acoustics and lighting were of particular concern to Sony BMG’s three-building campus of the Columbia, Epic, RCA, and Arista labels. The exacting standards for acoustical and ambient lighting systems were met using innovative design solutions and cutting-edge technologies. In response to the project’s requirements for high-end electronics, audio-visual, and acoustical capabilities, PAI introduced a variety of lighting systems ranging from subtle wall sconces to attention-riveting spotlights.
Private offices feature curved and angled walls constructed with four layers of gypsum board and door assemblies that reduced sound transmission to a class STC-39 rating. Conference rooms were equipped with custom-designed tables and cabinets with built-in controls for state-of-the-art audio-visual and conferencing equipment. Informal, open meeting areas were placed throughout the facility. The metal deck and columns were exposed, juxtaposing a sophisticated look with edgy structural forms.
Each building’s interior features a distinct color palette, further defining the separate identities of the record labels within the three-building campus.
